Cura & Boma jewelry are proud to present "This Matters" a limited edition collaborative jewelry collection designed to fund on the ground organizations in the pursuit of racial justice and redistribution.
100% of the profits from this collection will be donated to Lavender Rights Project. A non-profit elevating the power, autonomy, & leadership of the Black intersex & gender diverse community through intersectional & legal service. Ran by Black trans women & femmes in Puget Sound & beyond, we are deeply inspired by their advocacy.
The "Say Their Names" necklace is both sacred symbol and sacred declaration. The first nameplate necklaces originated in Black and Hispanic communities in the 1970's to emphasize how names reflect identity. Since non-Anglo names were marginalized, this style was symbolic for pride in one's name. Overtime the "look" was appropriated into mainstream fashion. Here we mean to honor the origin, declaring our commitment to the generational call for justice re-centering the names of the lost Black and Brown lives, known and unknown.
